Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = The country rocks in the area of the Juneau occurrence are pelitic metasedimentary and subordinate andesitic metavolcanic strata of the Jurassic or older Mesozoic Hazelton Group, which are underlain and locally intruded by the Triassic Texas Creek Granodiorite (Smith, 1977; Koch, 1996).? Buddington (1929, p. 108-108) describes the deposit as a quartz vein 3-6 feet thick in Texas Creek Granodiorite. The vein, reportedly traced on the surface for 1300 feet, locally contains small shoots of chalcopyrite. A second vein is said to carry galena and pyrite.
