Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = At this chromite occurrence, one of several within the Halibut Bay ultramafic complex, north-striking bands of chromite less than an inch thick occur in serpentinized dunite. Because of poor exposure no samples were collected and the extent of the mineralization is unknown. The Halibut Bay ultramafic complex, consisting mostly of dunite, pyroxenite, and peridotite, occurs within sedimentary units of the Uyak formation of Cretaceous age.
