Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Locally dolomitic and silicified marble, is cut by quartz veinlets and some oxidized sulfide veinlets (Hudson and others, locality 179, p. 16). There is some minor malachite staining. Mining claims were located in this area in 1975.
  • Age = Cretaceous ; Epigenetic mineralization in metamorphic rocks of Seward Peninsula is primarily of Cretaceous age.
