Relative position The Holmason and Helde lode prospect is at an elevation of about 350 feet in the headwaters of an unnamed east tributary to Goldbottom Creek. It is 0.8 mile due east of the Snake River road, in the NW1/4 section 7, T. 9 S., R. 33 W., Kateel River Meridian. This is locality 6 of Hummel (1962 [MF 247]) and 34 of Cobb (1972 [MF 463], 1978 [OFR 78-93]).

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Hummel (1962 [MF 247, locality 6]) reported copper and iron sulfides at this site. The deposit is near the contact between graphitic mica schist and graphitic quartz schist (mapping by Kennecott Exploration Co., 1994-5). Some marble occurs in the graphitic mica schist unit. No other information about the prospect is available.
