Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Samples are of black, medium to coarsely oolitic phosphate rock from (probably) near the top of the Alapha Limestone. Phosphatic pellets, partly replaced by calcite, are in the calcite matrix. Purple fluorite occurs in and around the edges of phosphatic pellets and in veinlets in calcite.
  • Age = Mississippian
