Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = Placer gold reported in Raven Creek prospect pits (Park, 1933). The bedrock in the vicinity is the Late Cretaceous Valdez Group; interbedded slate, siltstone, and graywacke of that has been metamorphosed to phyllite and quartz mica schist.
  • Age = Quaternary

  • Workings / Exploration = Park (1933) reported that a few prospect pits had been sunk and some colors reported. Eight claims were staked in 1929, but owner was killed in an accident and no work has been done since.
