Economic information

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geologic Description = This occurence has been reported as an offshore mining lease for titanium in Cook Inlet, north of Fire Island. Cook (1969, p. 89-99) evaluated this occurrence by concentrating the heavy minerals in a -48 mesh fraction. Concentrates yielded 15.9 pounds of magnetite and 5.2 pounds of ilmenite per cubic yard. He reported that the amount of heavy minerals was too low to be of economic value at that time. Very limited descriptive information is published on this occurrence.
