  • HEIN AND OTHERS (1983) NOTE THAT BRASILITO IS THE TYPE LOCALITY FOR THE FORMATION CALLED THE PUNTA CONCHAL FM. BY GURSKY AND SCHMIDT-EFFING (1983) AND THE SARDINAL FM. BY DE BOER (1979). THE CHERT, WITH SHALE, MOSTLY OVERLIES THE BASALT, BUT IT ALSO CONTAINS SOME MN AND FE OXIDES AND BASALTIC DEBRIS MIXED IN. THE SEDIMENTARY ROCKS ARE TITHONIAN (LJUR) TO VALANGINIAN (ECRET) IN AGE. THE ROCKS HAVE BEEN METAMORPHOSED TO PREHNITE-PUMPELLYITE FACIES.
