Comments on the production information

  • MORE THAN 3000 ST OF VEIN ALUNITE PRODUCED, 500 TONS OF WHICH WERE SHIPPED TO CALIFORNIA AS DIRECT APPLICATION FERTILIZER. HOWEVER, THIS AREA IS BETTER KNOWN FOR SULFUR MINING AND A TOTAL OF SOME 40,000 ST. OF S SAID TO HAVE BEEN PRODUCED INTERMITTENTLY BY VARIOUS COMPANIES BETWEEN 1875 AND 1929 . SMALL PROD. OF AG AND OF HG ALSO REPORTED FROM SULFUR DEPOSITS AND NEIGHBORING TERRANE.

Reserves and resources

  • Type In-situ
    Estimate year 1944
    Measured 11000mt ore

Comments on the reserve resource information

  • ITEM 1: MEASURED RESERVE; ITEM 2: INDICATED PLUS INFERRED RESERVE IN VEINS EST BY GARDNER (UNPUB. REPT., 1944)
  • TENTATIVE RESOURCE EST BY HALL CONSIDERS ALUNITIZED WALL ROCK LOW - GRADE ORE. POTENTIAL IS POOR.

Comments on the workings information

  • SMALL OPEN PITS WORKED FOR SULFUR NOT ALUNITE . OLD ALUNITE WORKINGS VISIBLE AS ABANDONED OPEN STOPES IN 3 NEARLY VERTICAL VEINS. 2 OR MORE ADITS HAVE BEEN DRIVEN IN EACH IMPORTANT VEIN OR GROUP OF VEINS AND 2 SHAFTS WERE DRIVEN IN THE WESTERN VEIN GROUP. TOTAL LENGTH OF THE ADITS IS 400 - 500 FT.

Deposit VEINS OF ALUNITE LOCATED NORTH OF THE MAIN SULFUR DEPOSITS. PRODUCTION WAS FROM 3 MAIN VEINS THAT ARE IN SHARPLY DEFINED FISSURES AND WERE PARALLEL. AVERAGE VEIN THICKNESS IS 4 FT. SEVERAL OTHER VEINS PRESENT WITH 2 ADDITIONAL FISSURE VEINS 1400 FT. WEST OF THOSE MENTIONED ABOVE, ONE 20 FT. WIDE BUT CONTAINING LOWER GRADE ALUNITE. STRIKE OF THE VEINS IS PARALLEL TO THE GENERAL TREND OF THE ALTERED AREA. VEINS OCCUR IN 2 PARALLEL SWARMS 1200 FT. APART. STRIKE RANGES FROM NORTH TO N 30 DEG. E. SIZE/DIRECTIONAL DATA GIVEN IS FOR ALUNITE DEPOSIT.
