Comments on the geologic information

  • ENVIRONMENT: ARID CLIMATE ALLOWING A TROPICAL PLIOCENE MORE HUMID LALERITIC DEPOSITIONAL PERIOD; SALT LAKES OR PLAYAS.; HR.AGE.MV: POST PLIO CALCRETE (CALICHE ZONE) OR A CONGLOMERATE OF CALCIUM MAGNESIUM CLAYS, SAND, GRAVEL CEMENTED INTO A HARD MASS BY CALCIUM CARBONATE PRECIPITATED FROM SOLUTION AND REDEPOSITED THROUGH THE AGENCY OF INFILTRATING WATERS. MOSTLY DERIVED FROM ARCHEAN GRANITE OR GNEISS WITH SOME META-VOLCANICS AND META - SEDIMENTS ("GREENSTONES" WHICH SOME PEOPLE THINK IS PRIMITIVE OCEANIC CRUST), BASIC VOLCANICS. POST-PLIOCENE.

Comments on the workings information

  • USUALLY 3 METERS TO WATER TABLE AND OUT OF ORE WHEN REACH WATER TABLE. MAXIMUM MINING DEPTH FOR MAIN ORE BODY ABOUT 9 M (EXTREMELY SHALLOW) DEPOSIT OUTLINED BY WESTERN MINING EXPLORATION TEAM IS ABOUT 45 KM LONG AND 3 KM WIDE, CONTAINING ANOMALOUS URANIUM VALUES. WITHIN THE MINERALIZED ZONE, THERE IS A FURTHER AREA ABOUT 10 KM LONG WITH STRONGER URANIUM MINERALIZATION. IN THE MAIN ORE ZONE (SOME 6 KM BY 500 M OVER A THICKNESS OF 8 M), THERE IS A FURTHER ENRICHED ZONE ESTIMATED TO CONTAIN 24,000 TONS U3O8 , AVE. 0.36 + %...MINING MAG., 1974 , V. 131 , NO. 1
