Comments on the location information

  • JUST WEST OF GLEN METALS PROPERTY.
  • Political location in record is Mineral county. Lat/long plots in Missoula county. Original coordinates for line#1 were: lat/long NAD27 47-15-24N 114-46-33W (47.25667 -114.77583); UTM N<blank> E<blank> Z<blank>; PLSS line# 1: Meridian- Montana Principal, TWNSHP 017N, RNG 026W, Sect 01, Sect_fract <blank>. PLSS coordinates center of section 1 plot at 47 15 40N, 114 51W which agrees very closely with the relative position description of 3.5 MI SE OF KEYSTONE PEAK. Original lat/long agree with the location comment "JUST WEST OF GLEN METALS PROPERTY". However, 10094314 Glen Metals Mining Co. Mine also had a disagreement between lat/long and county name and was likely misplotted. MRDS contains two more mines said to be in the the Carter district. They lie 4 km WNW and 2 km SSW of the PLSS location. Geonames has no entry for Carter in Mineral or Missoula counties. These two other Carter district mines have agreement between the PLSS, lat/long, and county name fields. So it is likely the PLSS coordinates for this mine and the Glen Metals mine are correct, so they were used to create new lat/long coordinates in the SE part of section 1.
