| Deposit | SMALL STOCK OF PORPHYRITIC AUGITE SYENITE INTRUDES COMPLEX OF SCHIST AND GNEISS CONTAINING LAYERS OF AMPHIBOLITE AND HORNBLENDE SCHIST WITH BEDDING AND FOLIATION TRENDING GENERALLY EAST-WEST, DIPPING SOUTH. SYENITE INTRUDED BY GRANITE DIKES, QUARTZ VEINS, AND LEUCOSYENITE. ON PERIPHERY OF MAIN MASS ARE SMALL BODIES OF APPARENTLY OLDER MELASYENITE. NW OF STOCK IS SWARM OF NE-TRENDING GRANITE-QUARTZ MONZONITE DIKES. NORTH END OF STOCK IS OFFSET BY FAULT TRENDING GENERALLY N 35 E AND WITH APPARENT RIGHT LATERAL MOVEMENT. ALTHOUGH NO PEGMATITES WERE MAPPED IN IMMEDIATE AREA (HEDLUND AND OLSON, 1973) HUNTER (1925) DESCRIBED A 2-FT-WIDE DIKE ON WEST BORDER OF STOCK CONSISTING OF QUARTZ, MICROCLINE, AND LONG SLENDER HORNBLENDE CRYSTALS, WITH ABUNDANT SPECULAR HEMATITE. MOLYBDENITE IS ASSOCIATED WITH HORNBLENDE AND OCCURS ALONG CRACKS AND JOINTS IN QUARTZ. |
