General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit THE ORE EXPOSED ON THE 90-FT. LEVEL IN THE FRANKLIN IS UNLIKE OTHER ORE SHOOTS IN THE DISTRICT. COARSE GALENA AND SPHALERITE OCCUR AS SMALL LENSES, ROUNDED MASSES, AND DISSEMINATED CRYSTALS IN A ZONE OF HIGHLY SERICITIZED HORNBLENDE MONZONITE PORPHYRY. GANGUE MINERALS ARE SCARCE. SHEARING HAS BEEN VERY SLIGHT; THE SOFT, HIGHLY SHEARED ROCK CHARACTERISTIC OF MOST OF THE VEINS IN THE DISTRICT IS ABSENT. THE LIMITS OF THE ORE SHOOT ARE DETERMINED ONLY BY THE LOCALIZATION OF THE SULFIDES SINCE THERE ARE NO VISIBLE WALLS.
Deposit Discovery Year: 1880'S
