  • PRINCIPAL MINERAL ASSEMBLAGES: SCLT + WLFM + BSMN + QRTZ + DPSD + GRNT + EPDT + HBLD + SRCT + CLCT + FLRT + APTT. MOST OF THE ORE COMES FROM THE "MAIN VEIN", WHICH MEASURES 1,500 M ALONG STRIKE, 1,500 M DOWN DIP AND 3.5 TO 5 M THICK. ORIGIN OF THE DEPOSIT IS CONTROVERSIAL - SOME WORKERS REGARD IT AS A METAMORPHOSED STRATABOUND DEPOSIT.

IN 1979, THE SANGDONG PLANT WAS REPORTED TO PRODUCE THREE PRODUCTS: A NATURAL SCHEELITE WITH 72% WO3, AN ARTIFICIAL SCHEELITE AT 74% WO3 AND APT AT 89% WO3 - IN THE FOLLOWING PERCENTAGES 22.3%, 16.5% AND 61.2%. TOTAL PRODUCTION WAS 3000 TONNES/YEAR CONTAINED WO3 (SMITH, A., 1979, P. 60).

PRIOR TO 1945 WAS KNOWN AS JOTO MINE OF THE KOBAYASHI MINING CO. LTD. THE COMPANY ALSO MAKES TUNGSTEN OXIDE, TUNGSTEN METAL POWDER AND TUNGSTEN CARBIDE.
