Comments on the geologic information

  • PRINCIPAL MINERAL ASSEMBLAGES: SCLT + WLFM + QRTZ + FLRT + MGNT + SPLR + PYRT; SCLT + GRNT + CLCP + HMTT + MGNT + PYRT + BSMN + MLBD + CLCT. ORE OCCURS BOTH AS QUARTZ VEINS IN GRANITE AND AS SKARN IN LIMESTONE ABOVE GRANITE CONTACT. OREBODIES CONSIST OF FOUR FLAT-LYING MINERALIZED ZONES STRATIGRAPHICALLY ABOVE EACH OTHER. ENTIRE ORE-BEARING SEQUENCE IS MORE THAN 300 M LONG AND ABOUT 200 M THICK.
  • PRINCIPAL MINERAL ASSEMBLAGES: QRTZ + FRBR + ARPR ? + SULPHIDES + SDRT + TUNGSTITE + TRML. AT EXTENSION OF INTENTA STOCK. WHEN FIRST MINED, POCKETS OF FERBERITE WERE FOUND IN SIDERITE MATRIX (HESS, F.L., 1921, P. 497). QUARTZ VEINS ARE 300 M LONG, 300 M DEEP AND BETWEEN 5 AND 50 CM WIDE. DEPOSIT OCCURS WITHIN A MINERALIZED AREA 1,400 M IN DIAMETER; CONSIDERABLE TONNAGE POTENTIAL IS INDICATED.

Comments on development

  • NON-GEOLOGIC CONSTRAINTS ON DEVELOPMENT OR EXPANSION IN 1-5 YRS.: PROCESSING, DEPRESSED W MARKET PRICES; OPEN PIT OCCASSIONALLY CLOSED BECAUSE OF UNFAVORABLE CLIMATIC CONDITIONS AT MINE. ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT IN MINE: YES. ACTIVE EXPLORATION IN DISTRICT: YES. PLANT PRODUCES A 60% PLUS WO3 CONCENTRATE BY FLOTATION AND A 205 WO3 CONCENTRATE BY MAGNETIC SEPARATIO.
  • NON-GEOLOGIC CONSTRAINTS ON DEVELOPMENT OR EXPANSION IN 1-5 YRS: PROCESSING--ARSENIC AND SULPHUR A PROBLEM IN MARKETING. ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT IN MINE: YES ( IN EARLY 1980S). ACTIVE EXPLORATION IN DISTRICT: YES. ARSENIC AND SULPHUR NEED TO BE REMOVED FROM FERBERITE CONCENTRATE PRIOR TO MARKETING (ANSTETT ET AL, P. 13).
