Comments on the location information

  • THE PROSPECT WAS DUG ABOUT 75 FT DEEP, AROUND 1904, ACCORDING TO VEEDER (1936). ANOTHER PROSPECT WAS LOCATED ABOUT 400 FT FARTHER E., AND ANOTHER ABOUT 6700 FT TO THE SE OF THE HATTIE GREEN, BOTH DUG TO A DEPTH OF 30-40 FT. ALL ARE GRANITIC GREENSTONE DIKES IN EITHER L OR M ZONES OF THE GLEN MOUNTAINS LAYERED COMPLEX. POWELL (1986) AND ESTES (1980) DISCUSS THE GEOLOGY. A N-S LINEAMENT THROUGH THE HATTIE GREEN IS MAPPED BY ESTES (1980). THE VEINS ARE MOSTLY CHLORITE. SOME MALACHITE WAS REPORTED BY BURKE (1936).

Comments on the geologic information

  • THE PROSPECTS ARE ABOUT 0.25 MI N. OF CONTACT ZONE OF MOUNT SCOTT GRANITE AND ANORTHOSITES. APLITE DIKES AND DIABASE DIKES CUT THE GRANITE AND ANORTHOSITES. A N-S LINEAMENT EXTENDS THROUGH THE HATTIE GREEN PROSPECT AND IS PROBABLY THE MAIN WEAK ZONE IN THE REGION. THE POST OAK CONGLOMERATE SURROUNDS THE AREA, WHERE BEDROCK IS COVERED.

Deposit LOCATED BY BURK (1936). A DIABASE DIKE IN GLEN MOUNTAINS LAYERED COMPLEX. DE BARR (1904, P. 35) LISTS SAMPLES 77-80, FROM THE GREEN LEAD, W. OF MEERS. VEEDER (1936) SHOWED 3 MORE PITS IN SEC. 36 (NEAR C-SW-NW-SW-36) (NEAR C-SW-NW-SW-SW-36) (SW-NE-SW-SW-SW-36), ALL ABOUT 30-50 FT DEEP. SOME WERE APLITE DIKES NEAR CONTACT OF ANORTHOSITE AND MOUNT SCOTT GRANITE.
