Comments on the location information

  • E. OF SECTION LINE AND 300 FT NE OF SL&SF RAILROAD TRACKS. IT IS AN 18-FT SHAFT, WITH COPPER MINERALS, DUG ABOUT 1903. MR. PARSONS SAID THAT H.F. BAIN HAD VISITED THE HOLE IN 1903 BUT DID NOT MENTION IT IN HIS REPORT. METAL TOOLS, LEFT IN THE HOLE OVERNIGHT, WERE COVERED WITH COPPER STAIN THE NEXT DAY, ACCORDING TO PARSONS. RYAN (NOV. 1936, SHEET KR-45) DISCUSSES THE PROSPECTS. THIS IS 1 OF 5 THAT OCCURS ON A DIABASE DIKE, STRIKING SLIGHTLY WNW, WITH COPPER MINERALS ASSOCIATED WITH TALC. CHASE (1950A,B), WALPER (1949, 1951), AND VIDRINE AND FERNANDEZ (1986B) DISCUSS THE GEOLOGY.

  • A DIABASE DIKE, WEATHERED TO TALC, CUTS OLDER ANORTHOSITE AND CONCENTRATED THE COPPER MINERALS. WITH LATER EROSION, THE COPPER COULD HAVE BEEN DEPOSITED IN THE HENNESSEY GROUP OF RED BEDS.
