Comments on the location information

  • W.M. SMITH SURVEY. ON BLUFF OF SALT FORK OF BRAZOS RIVER. CUMMINS MEASURED ABOUT 86 FT, WITH 20 FT OF CONGLOMERATE AT TOP, UNDERLAIN BY 12 FT OF WHITE SANDSTONE WITH 4 FT OF BLUE CLAY WITH COPPER BELOW, ON TOP OF 10 FT OF SANDSTONE (BASAL SAN ANGELO), WITH 40 FT OF RED SHALE BELOW (CHOZA). THE COPPER WOULD BE ABOUT EL. 1530. SMITH'S (1974) LOC. 10, ABOUT 1 MI TO N., HAD COPPER IN LOWER SAN ANGELO, NEAR BASE OF SECTION, AT APPROXIMATELY 1500 FT ELEVATION. ROESSLER'S (1876B) PROSPECT IS PROBABLY THE SAME STRATIGRAPHIC COPPER, IN THE LOWER SAN ANGELO, BETWEEN 1500 AND 1530 FT ELEVATIONS. RICHARD (1915, P. 644) MENTIONED THAT ON THE W. BANK OF SALT FORK, BELOW J. CROW RANCH HOUSE, NODULAR CHALCOCITE OCCURRED OVER SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET BELOW A LIMESTONE IN THE BLUFF. THIS COULD BE CLOSE TO CUMMINS' MEASURED SECTION 14.
