WALK DOWN RIDGE ABOUT 1200 FT SSE TO BLUFF OVERLOOKING NORTH CROTON CREEK, ABOUT 20 FT ABOVE BASE OF BLUFF. THIS IS PROBABLY IN THE UPPER FLOWERPOT SHALE, IN DOLOMITE AND SHALE, JUST BELOW THE KISER GYPSUM, A FEW FEET THICK.

Deposit THIS COULD COVER A WIDE AREA. IN ADJACENT KING COUNTY, WITHIN 0.5 MI TO N., IS DRILL HOLE B-1 AND SAMPLE SITES 102-103 (U.S. BUREAU OF MINES SAMPLE NOS. 80-81) IN SAME SECTION 255, WITH MUCH COPPER (STROUD AND OTHERS, 1970, P. 28, 41, 61, FIG. 11).
Deposit ROESSLER (1874; 1876B, MAP) IS REFERENCE. HE TRAVELED OVER THE OLD N-S ROAD THROUGH THE AREA IN 1872, WITH THE WASHINGTON AND TEXAS LAND AND COPPER COMPANY AND LATER THE GRAND BELT COPPER COMPANY OF GEN. GEORGE MCCLELLAN. LOEW AND ROESSLER (1873, P. 462-463) HAVE MEASURED SECTION HERE, MENTIONING 23 FT OF SANDSTONE WITH COPPER AND A 12-FT COPPER SANDSTONE, 10 FT BELOW UPPER BED.
