STROUD AND OTHERS (1970, P. 16) MENTIONED THAT COPPER HAS BEEN FOUND IN THE CLEAR FORK GROUP OF THROCKMORTON COUNTY, BUT THEY DID NOT LOCATE ANY SPECIFIC SITE. THIS IS CONSIDERABLY HIGHER STRATIGRAPHICALLY.

Deposit CLAY WITH COPPER, CROPPING OUT NEAR BASE OF HILLS, NEAR THE OLD GRAHAM-FT. GRIFFIN ROAD, 2 MI E. OF INTERSECTION WITH FT. BELKNAP ROAD. POSSIBLY THIS IS IN THE CAMP COLORADO LIMESTONE ALSO.
Deposit THIS COULD EXTEND OVER SEVERAL SQUARE MILES. POSSIBLY, THE CAMP COLORADO LIMESTONE CONTAINS THE COPPER, GRADATIONAL INTO SHALE.
Deposit BUCKLEY (1874, P. 39, 42) IS REFERENCE. A 1-FT BED OF COPPER STRATA WAS LOCATED 2 MI E. OF JUNCTION OF FT. B ELKNAP ROAD AND GRAHAM-FT. GRIFFIN ROAD, ON THE GRAHAM ROAD, AT THE BASE OF A HILL, IN THROCKMORTON COUNTY. "IN SEVERAL PLACES, WE SAW OUTCROPPINGS OF COPPER IN THE CLAYS AT AND NEAR THE BASE OF THE HILLS." FOSSILS WERE FOUND IN STRATA ABOVE AND BELOW.
