Deposit ZONED GRANITIC PEGMATITES. INCLUDES THE SOLEDADE AND LAPINHA PEGMATITES OF JOHNSTON (1945). THE SOLEDADE PEGMATITE OUTCROPS OVER AN AREA OF 100 M BY 10 M ON THE CREST OF A LOW ROUNDED RIDGE. THE PEGMATITE IS FAIRLY WELL ZONED WITH A NARROW OUTER MUSCOVITE ZONE THAT ENCLOSES AN AREA OF HOMOGENOUS PEGMATITE. THE HOMOGENEOUS PEGMATITE, THAT OCCUPIES A THIRD OF THE OUTCROP AREA ENCLOSES A WELL DEVELOPED, BUT ALBITIZED, FELDSPAR ZONE. THREE QUARTZ NUCLEI FORM THE CENTER OF THE PEGMATITE. THE LAPINHA PEGMATITE IS ABOUT 70 M LONG AND UP TO 15 M WIDE. IT HAS WELL-DEVELOPED, BUT SMALL, MICA AND HOMOGENEOUS PEGMATITE ZONES. THE FELDSPAR ZONE IS THE LARGEST ZONE AND CONSISTS OF ALBITIZED MICROCLINE. THE INNERMOST ZONE IS REPRESENTED BY 2 QUARTZ NUCLEI. THE EASTERN END OF THE LAPINHA PEGMATITE YIELDED SMALL AMOUNTS OF BERYL, AMBLYGONITE, AND TANTALITE PRIOR TO 1945.
