  • MILL$: 750,000 ; ECON.COM: IN 1989, HECLA MINING CO. INVESTED $600,000 TO COMPLETE FEASIBILITY STUDY. HECLA WILL ACQUIRE A 50% INTEREST IN A JOINT VENTURE WITH HIGHWOOD BY BRINGING THE PROJECT TO COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION. IN 1989, A PILOT PLANT TO CONVERT PHENACITE CONCENTRATE TO BE(OH)2 WAS COMPLETED AT LAKEFIELD RESEARCH IN ONTARIO. A SECOND PLANT WAS SUCCESSFULLY TESTED FOR PHENACITE FLOTATION. THE INITIAL ENVIRONMENTAL EVALUATION WAS REPORTED ALMOST COMPLETE IN 1989. PRODUCTION IS ENVISIONED FOR 1991.
