Subject category Comment text
Deposit BANDS OF WOLLASTONITE ROCK OCCUR INTERBEDDED WITH LIMESTONE AND CHERT. THE BANDS OF WOLLASTONITE RANGE FROM 2 INCHES TO 3 FT THICK, STRIKE 165-195 DEGREES, AND DIP WEST AT 10-15 DEGREES. UP TO 6 FT OF OVERBURDEN IS PRESENT. AVERAGE GRADE IS 30%, BUT COULD BE INCREASED TO 37% BY REJECTING THE CHERT BANDS. 80% OF THE ROCK IS WOLLASTONITE PLUS QUARTZ. PYRRHOTITE FORMS 5-10% OF THE ORE. DEPOSIT IS A ROOF PENDENT IN DEVONIAN GRANITE, PARTLY OVERLAIN BY TERTIARY BASALT. THE WOLLASTONITE-QUARTZ ROCK CONTAINS 5-10% PYRRHOTITE.
