  • TO 1983, 4725 M OF DRILLING (63 HOLES, THE DEEPEST TO 160 M) HAVE EXPLORED THE IN-SITU ORE. THE RESIDUAL ORE IS SAMPLED BY MEANS OF TRIAL PITS DUG ON A GRID PATTERN AT 50 M INTERVALS. ; ECON.COM: THIS IS INDIA'S LARGEST KYANITE MINE.

Deposit ORE OCCURS IN-SITU ALONG CRESTS OF RIDGE-LIKE HILLS OR AS BOULDERS BELOW THE RIDGES. THE BOULDERS MAY BE AS SMALL AS 6 MM IN DIAMETER OR AS LARGE AS SEVERAL TONNES IN WEIGHT. THE DETRITAL BOULDERS MAY BE LARGELY COMPOSED OF KYANITE OR THEY MAY BE DOMINANTLY QUARTZ OR SCHIST. THESE BOULDERS OCCUR TO A DEPTH OF 4.5 M, THE AVERAGE BEING 1.2 TO 1.5 M BELOW THE SURFACE.
