Deposit OLD LAKE BEDS ARE WELL STRATIFIED, 10-20 CM THICK, AND CROP OUT ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE SALAR. BORATIFEROUS THERMAL SPRINGS ARE REPORTED TO BE PRESENT IN THE PAMPA BY VILA (1953). BORATE MINERALS OCCUR AS LAYERS AND NODULES BELOW AN EVAPORITE CRUST.
