Deposit THE ORE IS FOUND TRAPPED BELOW THE IMPERVIOUS RIO SHALE AND ABOVE THE GEORGETOWN LIMESTONE OF EARLY CRETACEOUS AGE. THE DEPOSIT IS ASSOCIATED WITH A DEEP-SEATED BATHOLITH TYPE INTRUSION IN THE SIERRA MADRE ORIENTAL. THE IGNEOUS BODY TRENDS NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST. THE MINERALIZED MANTO HAS AN AVERAGE THICKNESS OF SOME 120 M AND AN ECONOMIC CUT OFF AT 2 M. TROUGHS ON THE GEORGETOWN LIMESTONE SURFACE WERE FILLED OR PARTIALLY FILLED WITH DEL RIO SHALE, WHICH IN TURN WAS BLANKETED BY BUDA LIMESTONE. MINERALIZATION IS LOCALIZED ALONG THE MORE INTENSELY JOINTED LIMESTONE, AND CEASES AT THE SHALE CONTACT. THE 4 MAIN MINERALIZED ZONES ARE (FROM BOTTOM TO TOP): 1) 10-15 FT BELOW THE TOP OF THE GEORGETOWN LST ARE SMALL PODS OF FLUORSPAR ASSOCIATED WITH RHYOLITE OR BROWN SILICEOUS ROCK (AVE. 10-30% CAF2); 2) 1-3 FT OF PARTLY TO WHOLLY REPLACED GEORGETOWN LST DIRECTLY BELOW ITS CONTACT WITH THE DEL RIO SHALE (AVE. 40-75% CAF2); 3) 2-3 FT OF MASSIVE CRYSTALLINE FLUORITE (GRADE > 80% CAF2);
Deposit 4) 2-5 FT OF SHALE WITH FLUORITE CRYSTALS (AVE. 20-50% CAF2). THE MAIN WORKINGS ARE IN ZONE 3.
