Deposit DIATOMITE UP TO 6 M THICK (2 M AVERAGE) OCCURS BETWEEN BASALT FLOWS. IT IS EXPOSED OVER A LENGTH OF 2 KM ON THE SLOPES OF A SPUR 0.4 TO 0.8 KM WIDE AND COVERS AN AREA OF AT LEAST 30 HA.
