Deposit THIS RECORD WAS COMPILED FOR THE INTERNATIONAL STRATEGIC MINERALS INVENTORY. THE DATA WERE USED IN PREPARATION OF THE USGS CIRCULAR 930 SERIES OF REPORTS. MINERAL RESOURCE CATEGORIES AND CODES HEREIN ARE FROM THE INTERNATIONAL CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM RECOMMENDED BY THE UNITED NATIONS GROUP OF EXPERTS ON DEFINITIONS AND TERMINOLOGY FOR MINERAL RESOURCES. (SEE NATIONAL RESOURCES FORUM, V. 4, NO. 3, P. 307-313.). SURFACE RESOURCE AND PRODUCTION FIGURES NOT AVAILABLE. IT IS ASSUMED THAT ABOUT 14% (ABOUT 19,000 METRIC TONS IN 1977) OF- SOVIET NICKEL MINE PRODUCTION ORGINIATES FROM OPERATIONS IN C-ENTRAL (YUZHURALNICKEL) AND SOUTHERN URALS (ORSK, CHALILOVO, B-URUKTAL). REPORTER'S ESTIMATE: TOTAL WORKABLE RESOURCES 60 M-ILLION TO 65 MILLION METRIC TONS NI-LATERITE, GRADE 0.9%-1.3% -NI.
