SUPPORT FOR THOSE FIGURES IS PROVIDED BY INCO LIMITED'S 10-K ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED DECEMBER 31, 1980 (RF 9, P.8) AS FOLLOWS: "IN GENERAL WITH RESPECT TO THE RELATIVE PERCENTAGES OF PLATINUM GROUP METALS AND GOLD RECOVERED FROM ORES PROCESSED BY THE COMPANY, OF THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF THESE METALS RECOVERED SOME 35% IS PLATINUM, 45% IS PALLADIUM, 11% IS GOLD AND THE BALANCE IS DIVIDED AMONG RHODIUM, RUTHENIUM AND IRIDIUM."

PRODUCTION FROM THE SHEBANDOWAN MINE NEAR THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO, IS ALSO INCLUDED BUT THAT MINE'S OUTPUT IS SMALL RELATIVE TO BOTH SUDBURY AND THOMPSON. THE THOMPSON MINES ACCOUNT FOR ABOUT 10% OF THE PGE PLUS AU PRODUCED ANNUALLY (RF9, P. 8). BECAUSE THE GRADE OF PGE PLUS AU AT THOMPSON APPEARS TO BE LOWER THAN SUDBURY'S (SEE REPORTING FORM FOR PIPE NO. 2 MINE) THE ABOVE CITED AVERAGE RECOVERED GRADE OF PGE PLUS AU MAY BE REGARDED AS A MINIMUM FOR INCO'S SUDBURY MINES.   • LATE FAULTING; PYTT + PNLD + CLCP.; THE DEPOSIT OCCUPIES AN EMBAYMENT IN THE BASE OF THE MAIN IRRUPTIVE. ORE CONSISTS MAINLY OF XENOLITHIC GABBRONORITE CONTAINING SULPHIDES THAT INCREASE IN ABUNDANCE DOWNWARD. THE LOWERMOST ORE IS XENOLITHIC MASSIVE SULPHIDE, FAULT-BOUNDED PROJECTIONS OF WHICH EXTEND INTO THE FOOTWALL ROCKS. XENOLITHS ARE OF PERIDOTITE, GABBRO, AND METAVOLCANIC ROCK. IN INCO MINES, SUDBURY, THE COMPOSITE DESCRIPTION OF PLATINUM GROUP ELEMENT MINERALS IS AS FOLLOWS: THE MOST COMMON MINERALS ARE MICHENERITE (PDBITE) AND SPERRYLITE (PTAS2). LESS COMMON ARE MONCHEITE (PTTE2) FOUND ONLY IN THE NORTH RANGE DEPOSITS TO DATE, AND MERENSKYITE (PDTE2). SMALL BUT SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF PT, PD AND RH OCCUR IN COBALITE AND GERSDORFFITE, MAINLY IN SOUTH RANGE DEPOSITS.
