  • ; ALTERED ILMN + RUTL + MNZT + ZRCN + KYNT ( + QRTZ); ANCIENT MARINE BEACH SANDS OCCURRING NEAR THE BASE OF THE MCNARY SAND. THE UNIT IS CHARACTERIZED BY VERY FINE SANDS CONTAINING UP TO 15% CLAYS.
  • ; ILMN + GRNT -+ ZRCN + MGNT + RUTL + MNZT + GOLD (QRTZ + FLDP); THE SANDS OCCURS IN 5 QUATERNARY FORMATIONS BUT THE BULK OF ECONOMIC SAND BELONGS TO THE NINE MILE FM (HOLOCENE) WHICH FRINGES THE PRESENT SHORELINE. THE SAND IS UNCONSOLIDATED AND OFTEN PRESENT IN DUNES. BULK GRADE IS APPROXIMATELY 10% ILMENITE. IN THE OLDER PLEISTOCENE FORMATIONS FURTHER INLAND GRADE IS GENERALLY LESS THAN 5% ILMN. AVERAGE TIO2 CONTENT IN ILMENITE 45-47% TIO2. MOST OF THE DEPOSIT CONTAINS BANDS OF PEBBLES AND GRAVEL. AVERAGE THICKNESS 5.2 M.

  • THIS IS COMPOSED ONLY OF THE RECENT DEPOSITS ON AND CLOSE TO THE PRESENT SHORELINE. THESE RESERVES HAVE AVERAGE OF APPROXIMATELY 10% ILMENITE. THESE RESERVES ARE HELD IN THE OLDER PLEISTOCENE STRANDLINES OCCURRING FURTHERE INLAND. ILMENITE GRADE IS APPROX. 2-5%. DERIVED FROM TOTAL INFERRED RESERVES OF 17-31 MILLION TONNES MINUS THE R2E RESERVES OF 10 MILLION TONNES.

DEVELOPMENT(NO); EXPLORATION(YES); ASSESSMENT(CURRENTLY NO PLANS TO DEVELOP THIS AS A TITANIUM DEPOSIT. HOWEVER THIS COULD CHANGE IF GRAMPIAN'S BARRYTOWN ILMENITE DEPOSIT AND TIO2 PIGMENT PLANT DEVELOPMENTS GO AHEAD AS PLANNED AND ARE SUCCESSFUL. ONLY THOSE DEPOSITS ON OR CLOSE TO THE PRESENT SHORELINE ARE SERIOUSLY VIEWED AS AN ILMENITE RESOURCE.); BECAUSE OF IMPURITIES AND THE LOW TIO2 CONTENT RAW ILMENITE CONCENTRATES FROM THESE DEPOSITS ARE UNSALEABLE. THE CONCENTRATE MUST UNDERGO SOME FORM OF BENEFICIATION PROCESS. THE ILMENITE IS HIGHLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO ACID LEACHING. GOLD COULD BE A VALUABLE BY PRODUCT (AV GRADE 0.06 G/T), ALSO ZIRCON (0.35%) AND MONAZITE (0.001%) MAPPING AND SAMPLING
