Comments on the geologic information

  • ON TERRACE AT MINE SHADY COVERED BY BROWN RESIDUAL CLAY, WHICH IS COVERED BY 5 TO 10 FEET OF RED MEALY SOIL RED SURFACE SOIL CONTAINS ABUNDENT FRAGMENTS OF HARDMANGANESE OXIDES. SOME ARE HIGH GRADE, MOST CONTAIN IRON OXICES, AND A FEW ARE SANDY. INTERMINGLED WITH THE FRAGMENTS ARE MANY QUARTZ DOLOCASTS AND GRAGMENTS OF CHERT AND JASPEROID. THE UNDERLYING BROWN CLAY CONTAINS LEANER MANGANESE ORE. THE CLAY ELSEWHERE ON THE TRACT APPEARS SIMILIAR.
