  • THE PERIDOTITE CONSIST OF PARTLY ALTERED AND RELATIVELY UNALTERED DUNITE AND SAXONITE. UNALTERED MATERIAL OCCURS IN ALENS SHAPED ZONE NEAR THE CENTER. THE DUNITE IS COMPOSED OF FINE GRAINED OLIVINE AND SMALL CRYSTALS OF CHROMITE. THE DEGREE OF SERPENTINIZATION IS SMALL. THE SAXONITE IS COMPOSED OF FINE GRAINED OLIVINE, BRONZITE CRYSTALS AND CHROMITE. SOME OF THE BRONZITE HAS BEEN ALTERED TO TALC. CHLORITIZATION IS EVIDENT NEAR LARGER JOINTS AND FAULTS.
