Comments on the geologic information

  • PERIDOTITE CONTAINS SEVERAL SCHIST INCLUSIONS, ESPECIALLY NEAR NORTHWEST CONTACT ZONE. SOME OF THE INCLUSIONS MAY HAVE BEEN FAULTED INTO PLACE. DEPOSIT CONSISTS ENTIRELY OF DUNITE, PART OF WHICH HAS BEEN SERPENTINIZED. NEAR BOTH ENDS OF THE FORMATION THE DUNITE IS COMPOSED OF COARSE-GRAINED, YELLOWISH, GRANULAR OLIVINE, MUCH OF WHICH IS SOUND. PARTS OF DUNITE ESPECIALLY NEAR FAULTS ARE HIGHLY SERPENTINIZED AND IN A FEW PLACES NEAR THE SCHIST INCLUSIONS NICKEL SILICATE MINERALS ARE VISIBLE. CONTACT ZONES AND MANY INTERIOR FAULTS ARE FILLED WITH VERMICULITE.
