Deposit CAMERON (1951) PRESUMES THAT QUARTZ VEINS IN METASEDIMENTARY ROCKS ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE GRANITIC COMPLEX ARE THE SOURCE OF GOLD THAT IS SAID TO HAVE BEEN PANNED IN SMALL AMOUNTS FROM BRYSON BRANCH AND OTHER STREAMS OF THE AREA. THE METASEDIMENTARY ROCKS INCLUDE METACONGLOMERATES, QUARTZITES, AND SCHISTS, OF THE OCOEE SERIES. THESE ROCKS ARE MAPPED AS THUNDERHEAD SANDSTONE IN USGS PROF. PAPER 349-B.
