Comments on the geologic information

  • TALC WAS EXPOSED IN AN OLD ROAD ABOVE THE HEAD OF ONE OF THE DRIFTS. THE TALC REPORTEDLY WAS OF GOOD GRADE, BUT THERE IS NO REPORT THAT THE UNDERGROUND WORKINGS ENCOUNTERED ANYTHING OTHER THAN STAINED TALC IN RESIDUAL OR SAPROLITIC MATERIAL.

Workings at the site

  • Type of workings Surface/Underground
    Overall depth 24.38M

Comments on the workings information

  • SHORT DRIFTS BRANCH OUT FROM THE 80-FOOT SHAFT AT TWO LEVELS. ABOUT 25 PITS, SHAFTS, AND ADITS HAVE BEEN OPENED WITHIN SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET OF THE MAIN SHAFT, BUT PRODUCTION HAS BEEN INSIGNIFICANT AND NONE OF THE WORKINGS ENCOUNTERED BEDROCK. THE WORKINGS ARE IN COLLUVIUM OR SAPROLITE AND THE TALC, WHICH IS STAINED TO VARYING DEGREES, HAS BEEN TRANSPORTED FROM A FEW FEET TO SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET.

Comments on development

  • ECON.COM: THE WORKINGS ARE CONSIDERED BY VAN HORN (1948) AS PROBABLY TOO FAR TO THE NORTHWEST TO INTERCEPT IN SITU TALC DEPOSITS.
