  • MINE IS LOCATED IN STEEPLY DIPPING MUDSTONES OF THE ROME FORMATION ADJACENT TO OR SLIGHTLY NORTHWEST OF A NORTHEAST-TRENDING FAULT WHICH PLACES SHADY DOLOMITE OVER THE ROME FORMATION. JASPEROID LEDGES AT THE WESTERN END OF THE MINE DIP VERY STEEP TO VERTICAL. KING AND FERGUSON (1960) NOTED THAT THE JASPEROID LEDGES LIE ON STRIKE WITH A KNOWN FAULT TO THE SOUTHWEST. BARTHOLOMEW (1976) FOUND JASPEROID LEDGES AT THE WESTERN END OF MINE #1 DIPPED STEEP TO VERTICAL. BOTH ROME QUARTZITE AND SHADY DOLOMITE ARE FOUND ABUNDANTLY AS FLOAT AND WITHIN BRECCIATED AREAS.
