  • PERSISENT SHEAR ZONE FORMS SCHISTOSE MYLONITE ZONES IN FOLIATED TO GNEISSIC GRANITOID ROCKSuAND CONTROLS MINERALIZED QUARTZ-CARBONATE VEINS. VEINS RANGE 0.3 TO 2.5 M THICKuAND PERSIST FOR ABOUT 5 KM. IMMEDIATE WALLROCKS ARE SHEARED ON ONE OR BOTH WALLS FOR 0.5 M. ORE SHOOTS UP TO 60 M IN LENGTH PITCH AT 45uTOWARD THE SOUTHEAST IN THE PLANE OF THE VEIN. GOLD WAS PRODUCED FROMuGOSSAN (BROWN ORE) TO A DEPTH OF AOUBT 15 M. COPPER WAS USUALLY PRODUCED FROM 15 TOu30 M. THE VEIN WAS 0.6 M AT SURFACE INCREASING TO 7.5 M AT THE 130 FT.uLEVEL THEN DECREASING TO 1-2 M AT THE 350 FT. LEVEL.
