Comments on the production information

  • IT IS REPORTED THAT 200 TONS OF ORE WAS SHIPPED FROM THIS MINE DURING WWI. THE CARBONATE ORE PROBABLY CONTAINS AT LEAST 35 % MANGANESE. THE PROSPECT LIES 2 MILES BY ROAD AND AN ADDITIONAL 2 MILES BY AN OLD WAGON ROAD FROM THE ARROYO MOCHO ROAD, 15 1/2 MILES FROM LIVERMORE. AT LEAST TWO THIN BEDS OF HIGH-GRADE RHODOCHROSITE ARE EXPOSED IN THE WORKINGS; THESE RANGE FROM 6 INCHES TO 1 FT. IN THICKNESS. IN SOME PLACES THE ORE IS NEARLY PURE, COARSE-GRAINED CARBONATE, BUT IN MOST PLACES IS A BANDED MISTURE OF RHODOCHROSITE AND NEOTOCITE

Comments on the workings information

  • INCLINED SHAFT 35 FT. DEPTH; 75 FT. BELOW SHAFT COLLAR A TUNNEL SAID TO BE 215 FT. LONG, AND IS SAID TO BE CONNECTED TO SHAFT BY A COMPLICATED SERIES OF WORKINGS
