  • GEOL.DESC: BLACK MANGANESE OXIDE STAINED METAMORPHOSED RED CHERT BEARING SECTIONS OF SEEMINGLY VERY INTIMATE MIXTURES OF MANGANESE OXIDE AND CHALCEDONIC SILICA. CHERT IS FREQUENTLY CUT BY VEINLETS OF QUARTZ AND PINKISH LILAC MANGANESE SILICATE (INESITE TYPE). ASSOCIATED ROCKS WITH THE CHERT ARE META-TUFFS AND DENSE GREEN OMPHIBOLITE, THOUGHT TO REPRESENT A UNIT OF METAMORPHOSED CONTEMPORONEOUS FLOWS AND TUFFS.
