  • GEOL.DESC: EAST OF THE MAIN SHAFT THE MARIPOSA VEIN STRIKES N 70 W, AND DIPS 60 - 70 SW. BETWEEN THE MAIN AND OLD SHAFTS THE VEIN BRANCHES WITH ONE BRANCH STRIKING OFF AT N 50 W. VEIN WIDTHS VARY FROM 2 - 5 FT. WIDE EAST OF THE JUNCTION LINE OF THE TWO BRANCHES. THE BRANCHES DO NOT AVERAGE MORE THAN TWO FEET WIDE. VEIN MATTER IS MILKY QUARTZ, COMMONLY RIBBONED TOWARD THE BORDERS BY THIN INCLUSIONS OF WALL ROCK.

  • WORKINGS INCLUDE OLD UNUSABLE SHAFT 475 FT. DEEP, THREE COMPARTMENT MAIN SHAFT 1550 FT. DEEP WITH 8 LEVELS & 5757 FT. OF DRIFTS. MOST OF THE ORE HAS BEEN STOPED OUT ABOVE THE 800 FT. LEVEL AND THERE ARE A NUMBER OF RAISES AND CROSSCUTS AS WELL AS A DRAINAGE TUNNEL.

Deposit DISCOVERY CREDITED TO KIT CARSON AND TWO ASSOCIATES. LAND WAS INCLUDED IN LAS MARIPOSAS GRANT OWNED BY J. C. FREMONT. VEIN MATTER IS MILKY QUARTZ, COMMONLY RIBBONED TOWARD THE BORDERS BY THIN INCLUSIONS OF WALL ROCK, WITH NATIVE GOLD, PYRITE AND ARSENOPYRITE; HIGH -GRADE POCKETS NEARLY ALWAYS CONTAIN ARSENOPYRITE, TWO POCKETS ARE REPORTED TO HAVE YIELDED $30,000 AND $15,000. ACTIVE IN 1955 . POSSIBLY STILL ACTIVE.
