  • GEOL.DESC: EXPOSURES OF THE PUMICE ARE FEW AND ARE IN MINING OPERATIONS, TEST PITS, AND BULLDOZER CUTS. PUMICE LAYER, 50-60' THICK, ASSUMED TO UNDERLIE AT LEAST 2-3 SQ. MI., DIPS ABOUT 5 DEG. E, AND CONSISTS OF NUMEROUS THIN BEDS OF PUMICE AND PUMICITE FROM 1-5' THICK; FRAGMENTS ARE ANGULAR ,WHITE, AND FROM DUSTLIKE PARTICLES TO FRAGMENTS 3" DIAM.
