YIELDED TOTAL OF ABOUT 20,000 TONS OF HAND-COBBED ROCK CONTAINING 53% OR MORE OF ANDALUSITE. KNOWN MINABLE RESERVES DEPLETED IN 1930'S.

Deposit VULCANUS NO. 8 - LARGEST BODY OF ANDALUSITE-BEARING ROCK, 3500' SW OF VULCANITE MINE AND ON OPPOSITE SIDE OF A DEEP CANYON; IS ABOUT 600' LONG AND 230' WIDE IN THE OUTCROP, EXTENDED DEPTH UNKNOWN; AVERAGES ABOUT 40% ANDALUSITE AT SURFACE. NOT MINED EXTENSIVELY.
