  • GEOL.DESC: INTERBEDS OF MANGANIFEROUS CHERT AND MANGANESE SILICATE BEDS 1 TO 3 FT. THICK IN A FOLDED AND FAULTED AREA OF THE FRANCISCAN CHERT. THE SOUTHERNMOST BED CONSISTS OF SPONGY BLACK OXIDE, WITH SOME CORES OF PRIMARY REDDISH BROWN, GRANULAR CHALCEDONIC ORE AND SOME MANGANESE CARBONATE. THE NORTHERN BED IS SIMILAR. A 30 FT. SHEAR ZONE IS PRESENT.
