  • GEOL.DESC: BED OF SILICEOUS MANGANESE ORE, ABOUT 7 1/2 FT. THICK ENCLOSED IN QUARTZ-MICA SCHIST. THE STRIKE IS N 60 W, DIPPING N. AT A HIGH ANGLE. THE SCHIST OCCURS AS A BODY LESS THAN 50 FT THICK IN GRANITE. THE LOWER 5 FT OF THE ORE IS GRAY QUARTZITE WITH BANDS OF PINK AND BROWN SILICEOUS MANGANESE ORE. THE UPPER PORTION IS NEARLY PURE, PINK MANGANESE SILICATE, AND OXIDIZED ORE. SPESSARTITE AND RHODONITE ARE PRESENT.
