  • ORE HOSTED IN FRANCISCAN COMPLEX--L. TO L. ; GEOL.DESC: ORE BODIES ARE NEAR THE BASE OF A THICK LENS OF FRANCISCAN CHERT IN APPROXIMATELY THE SAME STRATIGRAPHIC HORIZON AS THE LADD MINE. THE BODIES ARE 25 FT. APART, STRIKE N 35 W, AND DIP STEEPLY. THE NO. 2 ORE BED IS MANGANESE OXIDE IN A SILICEOUS MATRIX, WITH LESS THAN 10 PERCENT MANGANESE. THE NO. 1 ORE BED IS OVER 60 FT. LONG, 8 TO 10 FT. THICK AND EXTENDS 30 FT. UP AND DOWN DIP. THIS BED CONTAINS HIGH GRADE ORE. THE ORE MATERIAL PRESENT IS CELLULAR CHERT VEINED AND PARTLY REPLACED BY MANGANESE OXIDES. THE LOWER ORE BODY IS OFFSET VERTICALLY BY AT LEAST 3 FAULTS WHICH STRIKE N. W.
