Comments on the geologic information

  • GEOL.DESC: MANGANESE LIES IN BELT OF THIN-BEDDED PURPLISH MANGANIFEROUS CHERT 400 FT. WIDE, AT LEAST 800 FT. LONG, STRIKING N. E. AND DIPPING NEARLY VERTICAL. CHERT IS CUT OFF BY GREENSTONE ON 2 SIDES AND SEEMINGLY IS A ROOF PENDANT IN A BASIC PLUTONIC ROCK. MANGANESE IS LOCALIZED IN 3 DEPOSITS; 2 AT N. E. END, ABOUT 300 FT. APART ACROSS STRIKE AND THE OTHER 600 FT. TO THE S. ACROSS A RAVINE. N. E. DEPOSIT IS LOUELLA, S. E. IS CARR, AND S. W. IS CARRIE CLAIM, WHICH IS LOWER GRADE THAN OTHERS. IT DOESN'T HAVE MUCH ORE OVER 5 PERCENT MANGANESE, AND IS INVOLVED WITH GREENSTONE, WHICH CUTS OFF CHERT TO THE S. E.
