  • GEOL.DESC: MINERALIZED ROCK IS WHITE AND GREY CHERT, STRIKING N 35 W AND DIPPING STEEPLY TO N. E. CHERT IS 150 FT. WIDE. ADJOINING COUNTRY ROCK IS MAINLY SANDSTONE AND GREENSTONE. WEST CONTACT OF CHERT IS AGAINST GREENSTONE. LIMESTONE IS EXPOSED 200 FT. N. OF NORTHWESTERNMOST CHERT. BROWN SANDSTONE LIES ALONG E. CONTACT OF CHERT, IN PLACES PARTIALLY RECRYSTALLIZED, AND IN PLACES RESEMBLING GREENSTONE. DIORITE OUTCROPS 400 FT. N. OF MAIN ORE BODY. 4 TYPES OF MANGANESE ARE 1) MANGANESE OXIDE, 2) RHODOCHROSITE, COMMONLY COATED WITH OXIDE, 3) SILICEOUS MANGANESE IN WHICH MANGANESE OXIDE IS MIXED, 4) CHERT STAINED WITH MANGANESE OXIDE. MAIN ORE BODY IS 6.5 FT. WIDE AND 31 FT. LONG. PRINCIPAL MINERAL IS RHODOCHROSITE, BUT IN PLACES CONSIDERABLE RHODONITE AND BEMENTITE ARE PRESENT.
