Comments on the geologic information

  • GEOL.DESC: 3 SEPARATE BODIES OF MANGANIFEROUS RED AND PURPLE CHERT, AND ARE 250 FT. LONG, 20 FT. THICK; 80 FT. LONG, 25 FT. THICK; AND 50 FT. LONG, 20 FT. THICK. LARGEST BODY STRIKES N 60 E AT N. E. END, AND N 45 W AT S. W. END, DIPPING 45 E. ROCKS ADJACENT TO CHERT ARE GREENSTONE AND SERPENTINE. MANGANESE OXIDE OCCURS MOSTLY AS STAINS AND COATINGS, BUT TO SOME EXTENT PENETRATES CHERT. PRESUMABLY DERIVED FROM MANGANIFEROUS CHERT, BUT MAY COME FROM RHODONITE, BECAUSE A SMALL AMOUNT OF PINK RHODONITE IS PRESENT.
