Deposit MINE IS ON THE HANGING WALL OF A FAULT. ORE OCCURS IN SILICIFIED BRECCIA STOPED TO A DEPTH OF 30-40 FT. OXIDIZED REPLACEMENT ZONE DEVELOPED ALONG A N TO N15W VERTICAL TO 5ONE-DIPPING FAULT REPLACEMENT. MINERALIZATION IS NOT RESTRICTED SOLELY TO FAULT ZONE BUT ALSO EXTENDS OUTWARD FROM FAULT ZONE ALONG BEDDING PLANES, ESPECIALLY AFFECTING THE MORE SHALEY LAYERS. FAULT DOES NOT EXTEND TO SURFACE, AS CARBONATE BEDS ABOVE WORKINGS ARE UNDISTURBED ACROSS ZONE. CARBONATE ROCKS ADJACENT TO AND WITHIN ZONE ARE HIGHLY SILICIFIED OR OXIDIZED (BLEACHED AND IRON-STAINED). SAMPLE 1714 CONSISTS OF ALTERED LIMESTONE REPLACED BY GALENA(?) AND NOW OXIDIZED TO CERUSSITE, ANGLESITE,AND FE&MN OXIDES. CALCITE AND WAD ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE ORE. SHALLOW SHAFT WEST OF SAMPLE SITE EXPLORES THE SAME BEDDED CARBONATE UNIT WHICH IS CUT BY A N70W VERTICAL FAULT ZONE ABOUT 4 FT WIDE, MARKED BY BRECCIATION AND IRON OXIDES HOST ROCKS ARE RECRYSTALLIZED OR HIGHLY SILICIFIED.
