  • LIMESTONE INTERBEDDED WITH HORNFELS; FELSITE DIKES INTRUDE THE SECTION WHICH INCLUDES LIMESTONE WITH SKARN, AND QUARTZ CHLORITE PHYLLITE. LOCALLY IRON-STAINED SMOKEY-GRAY QUARTZ VEINS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE SKARN. THE FELSITE DIKES ARE ASSUMED TO BE RELATED TO THE SAME QUARTZ MONZONITE PORPHYRY AT THE ALPINE/GARDNERVILLE MINE TO THE SOUTH. QUARTZ MONZONITE WITH ABUNDANT STOCKWORK VEINING CROPS OUT IMMEDIATEDLY SOUTH OF THE CHEROKEE MINE PIT.

  • MINE WORKINGS DID CONSIST OF FOUR SHALLOW SHAFTS , A SHORT ADIT AND NUMEROUS PITS AND TRENCHES. NOW THE AREA OF SHAFTS AND ADIT HAS BEEN OPEN PITTED AND CONSISTS OF A N80W TRENDING PIT ABOUT 200 FT. BY 40 FT. BY 30 FT. DEEP.
